Golf Classic A Huge Success

The club would like to thank all took place, sponsored tee boxes, spot prizes etc in our annual Golf Classic at the Highfield course on Saturday. It was a great day out and scores were very good. The winner of the G.U.I section was Dermot Hall’s team. The winner of the non G.U.I was Oliver Murphy’s team. The prizes for all the winners were given out at a function in Killeen’s Lounge and the presentations were made by Club Chairman James Murphy. He thanked all for taking part in the classic, he also thanked all those who sponsored tee boxes, spot prizes. He also thanked our local butcher Ray Dempsey who sponsored all the food for the event which was very much appreciated, the Highfield Golf Club who made premises available and for their help and cooperation. He also thanked Colm Killeen for the use of his premises and for his generous contribution to the classic. Thanks also is expressed to Max Marble senior team sponsor proprietor John McNamee and also to club members who helped out in any way. The following is the full list of winners

Longest Drive joint winners Oliver Murphy and Roy Malone a distance of 299 yards

Rhode Senior footballers drew with Clara in the Offaly Senior football league final on Friday evening in O’Connor Park on a 1-12 to 2-9 score line. Rhode lead at the interval by 1-11 to 1-4 the goal coming from Paul McPadden. Clara made a great start to the second half restricting Rhode’s score to a Glen O’Connell pointed free. It was a good completive game of football and there is no date yet for the replay.

Senior Quarter Final Rhode v St Rynagh’s in O’Connor Park on Sunday at 12noon

Rhode Intermediate footballers play Kilclonfert in the relegation play-off in Walsh-Island on Friday at 6.45pm .

Under 13 League Rhode v St.Vincent’s in Rhode on Thursday at 6pm

There was no winner of the Rhode GAA Lotto for the week ending 2nd of September for a Jackpot of €15,000. The numbers drawn were 12 25 26 29.
