Great win to kick off football championship

November 7, 2018

Fr. Murphy’s ladies opened their quest for a third county senior title in a row, with an empathic 5-15 to 1-04 win over Holloway Gaels.

They had three players making their debuts for the club at the weekend - Australians Natalie Hughes, Teitsha Dex and former Meath star Jackie Shiels.

In the baking heat the girls in purple and gold showed excellent team work. Anne Marie O Dwyer came out of retirement to play in the goalkeepers position and was fronted by a solid full back line of Sinead Kirk, Sinead Daly and Natalie Hughes.

Narelle Saward played at half back and was the third Australian on The Fr Murphy’s team on the day.

Natalie O Conner and Niamh Keane bossed centrefield, whilst the scoring was spread out between Claire Towey, Jackie Shiels, Emma Taylor, Orna Tiernan and Teisha Dex.
Parnells are next up for Fr. Murphy’s in the championship this Sunday 7th June.
