Greenfields 1sts hope to win Wild-Card spot in Irish Hockey League qualifiers.

November 8, 2018

Dublin’s Three Rock Rovers is the venue for a feast of hockey this weekend.
The finals of the Irish Hockey League will be played out to see who will be crowned IHL Champions, & earn a coveted spot in Europe for next season.  (Loreto, Cork Harlequins, Hermes & Pegasus will be battling it out for the womens title.)

At the same venue, & running simultaneously, will be the ‘Wildcard Qualifiers’ for the 2009/2010 season.

These qualifiers for next season’s Irish Hockey League, are based on the team’s placing within the provincial league in the preceding season, & are open to the following teams:
Ulster 5th place, Leinster 5th place, Munster 3rd place &  Connacht 1st place.

As Greenfields 1sts are the Connacht League Champions of the 08/09 season, they have earned a place in this weekends wildcard qualifiers, from which there are TWO wildcard spots.  They play a series of three matches over the weekend, & the top two teams will secure a place in the 2009/10 IHL season.
Coach Bryan Madden, & Manager Imelda Brennan, have worked hard with the squad in recent weeks.  Hopefully all their preparations will pay off – good luck to all the squad members!
