In the U8 St. Peter’s Tournament Our U8 team was beaten at the semi-final stage with the last kick of the ball. By all accounts the team was a credit to the club.

The U16’s had a league defeat against Maghery.

Senior League
Sarsfields 1-10 Ballymacnab 0-13
In terms of league position this match had little importance for both teams. The ‘proverbial dead rubber’ you might say but both teams were keen to put in a good performance with the championship quarter finals looming. Sarsfields began brightly and straight from the throw in Paul McGaughey coming in along the end line might have had a chance on goal, but he grabbed a well taken point. Playing with the breeze Ballymacnab responded well and hit four points without reply and it had to be said that their scores were coming from Highmoss attacks breaking down. Paul McGeown replied with a point and the feeling was that there were scores to be had if there was a supply of ball into the forward line. The next ten minutes saw Ballymacnab with most of the play and they knocked over a couple of points and sent another three scoring chances wide. Paul McGeown knocked over a free, but the home side in total control knocked over a further three points. Sarsfields had the final point of the half going in five points down, but they could easily have been much further behind.
Sarsfields looked the stronger team early in the second half. As in the first half Paul McGaughey hit over an early point. Mark Reynolds had a superb goal chance but saw his chance drag across the face of the goal and wide. Keeping the pressure on Eamon McGeown knocked over a forty-five meter free. Paul McGaughey narrowed the gap to two points before Paul McGeown had the chance to steer Sarsfields into the lead, but he was denied by the home keeper. Colin Stevenson had a further chance to push Sarsfields ahead, but again his shot was dragged across the face of goal just clipping the post. A goal was coming and it was Eamon McGeown who beat the Ballymacnab keeper with a super right footed strike. Credit though must go to Paul McGaughey who set Eamon up with a superbly weighted diagonal ball.
Ballymacnab hit back, two further points had the home side ahead and it seemed as if they might have broken the Highmoss momentum. A Paul McGeown free levelled matters and Eamon McGeown edged the Highmoss ahead with moments remaining. Ballymacnab levelled matters just before the final whistle. Had Sarsfields taken their goal chances they might well have won, but the Mid-Armagh side could also point to missed chances. Perhaps it was a fair result for both sides with the championship looming.
