Hockey links with OSU, Ohio State University

November 8, 2018

Following the hockey careers of our former players can make for interesting news.  (Check out an earlier news item from Sept 25th 2010).
This report follows Aisling McKeon all the way to Ohio.

From her first hockey experience with Greenfields HC, Aisling also played on her school’s senior team.   With Coláiste Iognáid, she was on the team which won the Connacht Schools Cup Final three years in a row, to advance to the All-Ireland schools finals.
She played on the Irish U16, U18 & U19 teams, competing in the European A division Championships at U16 level.

In 2007, having completed her Leaving Cert, she received a sports-scholarship to Ohio State University, where she is in her final year of a Marketing/International Business degree.  She lines out with the OSU ‘Buckeyes’, & is ranked 5th on the team.  Only last weekend, the Buckeyes competed in the NCAA Semi Final (National Collegiate Athletic Association), against Maryland State University.  Although they lost the match 1-2, they hold the honour of being in the final four of the NCAA for the first time in their history, & are currently ranked 7th in the country.
