Inconclusive and Frustrating Weeekend for Hurlers

November 7, 2018

With our Junior team drawing on Saturday and the Minor final being postponed due to a bereavement in the Sarsfield club, the weekend ended with nothing more concluded than when it started. The end result is that the season is now certain to last another fortnight. Should the Juniors progress all the way to the final, their season will extend to the end of November at least.

The replay of the Junior game has been fixed for next Sunday at 11am in Turloughmore. The early start is to void a clash with the double header in Athenry  at 1pm, which includes the Senior semi-final replay (Gort/St Thomas’s) and the Intermediate final (Ahascragh/Fohenagh and Athenry). Hopefully, Mágh Cuilinn can re-create the first 20 minutes of last weekend throughout the game and take the club forward to the semi-final stage.

The Minors will have their own double header in Athenry at 1pm the following Sunday as their final precedes the replay of the Minor A final between Tommie Larkins and Turloughmore. The Minors will be anxious to get into action as over a month has elapsed since their semifinal win over Meelick Eyrecourt.

All fixtures are of course dependent on pitches and weather, especially at this time of year. Hopefully, there will be no further delays.
