Injury Update: Hawkins, McDonnell and Maher

November 8, 2018

Dundalk FC have been rocked by the news that centre-half Colin Hawkins faces another month on the sidelines, having suffered a Grade 2 Medial Collateral Ligament (MCL) sprain.

Meanwhile, central midfielder Stephen McDonnell was on the bench against Bohemians on Friday night, the youngster involved in the matchday squad for the first time since tearing his Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) in the Setanta Sports Cup final on 14 May. However, manager Ian Foster has revealed that the 19-year-old is still “not ready yet”.

Fellow central midfielder Stephen Maher has received yet more bad news as he will require surgery on his foot. The 23-year-old suffered a fracture to his fifth metatarsal in the home game against Bray Wanderers on 19 August, and with the bone failing to heal, he will now have to undergo an operation.
