Intermediate team denied draw. Mayo Gaels 1-10 Bonniconlon 1-11

 

Our intermediate team were denied a draw in their league game with Bonniconlon in Abbey Park on Saturday evening when a controversial referring decision gave the north Mayo side both points. The Gaels had the better of a lively first half and lead 1-7 to 0-8 at halftime. The second half was a much cagier affair with scores hard fought on both sides. A draw looked on the cards before Bonniconlon hit what proved to be the winner two minutes into injury time. The referee seemed to be playing for a draw and allowed nine minutes injury time despite no relevant stoppage in the second half but denied the Gaels a clear free in during the last attack of the game to leave the final score Mayo Gaels 1-10 Bonniconlon 1-11.
