Intermediate team lose out narrowly to Ballinrobe in O'Mara Cup

Ballinrobe 1-15 Mayo Gaels 2-8

Our intermediate team lost out to Ballinrobe in O’Mara Cup away on Sunday morning on a score line of 1-15 to 2-8.  Damien Quinn got proceedings off to a good side for the Gaels with a point on the second minute, but the home side soon notched up five points in reply to leave 4 points between the sides. Quinn again responded for the Gaels before Johnny Morrin slotted over three points (2 frees) to level the sides. Ballinrobe soon responded with a point before Niall Brett leveled the sides on the stroke of half time to leave the sides 6 points a piece on the sound of the halftime whistle.
 
Ballinrobe started off the brighter in the second half with three points in quick succession but a Niall Brett goal on the 8th minute followed by another goal courtesy of Joe Gilroy on the 13th minute saw the Gaels go three points ahead. Ballinrobe didn’t waste time in responding notching up 1-3 in the space of ten minutes. A Danny Burke point on the 29th minute followed by one more point from Ballinrobe, saw the Gaels defeated on a final scoreline of, Mayo Gaels 2-8 Ballinrobe 1-15.
 
Considering the amount of players that they were missing and the different leagues the sides are in, it must be said that the team put in an exceptional performance.
