Intermediate team lose to Claremorris in the O’Mara Cup

Mayo Gaels 0-8 Claremorris 7-7

It was a disappointing day for the intermediate team this Saturday as Claremorris had a comprehensive victory over the Gaels.

The game started off fairly even with Claremorrris getting the first score of the game with a point in the opening moments, but the Gaels soon responded with a free from Johnny Griffin. A Claremorris goal soon shook things up and Damien Quinn closed the gap for the Gaels with three points (2 frees). A Claremorris penalty extended the away sides lead, but a Johnny Griffin free, followed by Danny Burke’s and Damien Quinn’s points allowed a half-time score line of 3-2 to 0-7 in favour of the away side.

The second half wasn’t good on the Gaels front with the home side only managing a single free courtesy of Damien Quinn on the 18th minute of the half. Claremorris notched up a flurry of goals in quick succession as well as five points to leave a final scoreline of 7-7 to 0-8 in favour of Claremorris.
