The intermediate team continued their winning streak against Eastern Gaels on Saturday evening in a rain swept Mayo Abbey, adding two more points to our league tally.

 

The Gaels started of the brighter with points from Johnny Morrin, Danny Burke and Cathal Vahey before an Eastern Gaels effort. Mally Byrne calmly slotted over another point for the Gaels put Eastern Gaels soon responded. Two points from Johnny Griffin (1 free), followed by the pointed efforts of Johnny Morrin, Danny Burke, Cathal Vahey and two more scores from Johnny Griffin (1 free) saw the Gaels cruise ahead before Eastern Gaels got the final score of the half to leave a half time score line of 0-11 to 0-3 in the Gaels favour.

 

As the conditions worsened the Gaels started off brightly with a Johnny Morrin point followed by Mally Byrne’s strike. Eastern Gaels provided the next score before Damien Quinn took command to extend the Gaels lead. Eastern Gaels soon upped their game adding four points in quick succession and thanks to the Gaels keeper Paul Mannion they were denied a penalty opportunity. Final score line Mayo Gaels 0-14 Eastern Gaels 0-9.
