Intermediate Championship
We played Ballinahinch in a local derby in the 2nd round game of Group 4 of the intermediate county championship on Saturday 25th in Dolla. Short a no. of regulars we were slow to settle and Ballinahinch took the initiative with a point from Shane McGrath. A long delivery from John Foley to the edge of the square was fielded and finished to the net by David Gleeson. We quickly settled however and were winning possession in midfield and pressuring the opposition defenders into frees which were unerringly converted by Patrick Carey. With Carey in excellent form from placed balls and we battled back reduce the gap to the minimum approaching half time but Ballinahinch surged clear as an excellent long range effort from Kevin Mulcahy rounded off the first half scoring. The score at half time was 1-09 to 0-09 in favour of the north men.

Ballinahinch started the second half the stronger also but crucially were unable to convert their possession into scores. Matt Feehan and Patrick Deegan were now dominant in midfield and supplying quality ball and we quickly rattled over some quality scores from play and frees. We held a 3 point lead entering the final 5 minutes and were now fighting a rear-guard action but our defence was not to be breached again. Ballinahinch went for goal from a 20 metre free but the effort was blocked and the danger cleared. We held to record a much needed win on a scoreline of 0-18 to 1-12
