Bride Rovers Junior A footballers maintained their unbeaten run in the league with a comprehensive victory away to Midleton on Sunday morning last. In a competitive game on a very heavy sod the Bride lads took the lead early in the first half and never looked in trouble throughout. The Rovers ran out winners on a final score line of 3-10 to 7 points. The forward line proved fruitful on the day with five of the six who started getting on the score sheet.
In their fifth game of the league before their opening championship game, the upcoming football talent from Rathcormac, Bartlemy and the surrounding areas have staked their claim to be included in the first fifteen with many of them being involved over the past few months. This was evident again on Sunday morning where four of the back six were from the under 21 panel and this provides what can only be described as a good headache for the football selectors.
The team and scorers on Sunday were Ritchie Cahill, Jim O’ Connor, Liam Forde, Shane Murphy, Mike Kearney, Sean Ryan, Shane Kearney, Brendan Walsh (0-02), Sean O’ Brien, Eoin O’ Flynn (0-02), Terry Broderick (0-03), Donal Ryan (2-0), George Johnson (0-01), Alan O’ Keefe (1-01), Barry Johnson. Subs used: Pat O’ Reily (0-01), John O’ Dowd, Tomais Kearney.
