JFC: Clonmore 1-10 Myshall 1-7

November 8, 2018

Dramatic finish to Junior Championship game
Clonmore were the better team throughout the first half but missed a sackfull of chances and went in behind at half-time 1-4 to 0-3. The introduction of five subs livened up the team and they began to convert chances into scores. With PJ Byrne in great scoring form and Ivan Byrne & John Connolly also notching points, Clonmore went ahead by a point 0-9 to 1-5 with normal time just up. When Myshall scored two late points it looked like Clonmore would again have to suffer a heartbreaking defeat but supersub Kevin McCarney had other ideas. McCarney had been terrorising the Myshall defence with his speed and with time almost up he made another brilliant run before burying the ball low into the Myshall net. From the kickout he scored a fine point to complete his late late show and give the club a morale boosting win.
TEAM: Daragh Kelly, Ger Doyle, Dinny Quigley, William Byrne, Michael Smith, Thomas Doyle, Chris Smith, John Connolly (0-1), Willie Rooney, PJ Byrne (0-6), Clive Lambe, Ivan Byrne (0-1), Norman Mulvany, John Paul Doyle, Jamie Doyle (0-1). Subs: Dara Conway for Tom Doyle (inj), Kevin McCarney (1-1) for Clive, Kevin Walsh for Norman, Mick Murray for JP, Tom Kennedy for Jamie.
