Junior B Hurling Shield Winners 2013

November 7, 2018

Mágh Cuilinn captured the inaugural Junior B Shield title in what was the club’ last competitive outing of 2013 by overcoming Kilconieron in Carnmore on Saturday and achieving the first win at Junior level since the Junior B City League title in 2006. Trailing by a single point at half time, Mágh Cuilinn dominated the second half to score 11 second half points to win out by 0-16 to 0-09.
The win is a great boost for the club and is in line with what the target for the team was. Having competed in last year’s Junior B league last year but in the Junior C Championship, the club opted to move up to Junior B and support our Senior team by having our Juniors compete at a higher standard. Although not qualifying for the quarter finals, they enjoyed some good performances including a thrilling comeback win over Beagh and have now gone on to do the next best thing and win the shield. The Shield campaign included wins over Mountbellew / Moylough and Ballinderreen who had both beaten Magh Cuilinn in last year’s League competition. The win was backboned by those players who have trained diligently with the Senior team throughout the year and it is good to see that effort rewarded.
