Junior Footballers beaten in Clonmore

Edenderry juniors suffered their second league defeat of 2012 with a five point loss to Clonmore Harps on Saturday afternoon. Despite holding a four point lead at half time, a blistering opening twelve minutes in the second half by Clonmore which yielded 1-6, meant they took the two points on offer.

Edenderry started the stronger and with just forty seconds on the clock John Gorman pointed after some good play from Glen Dolan and Pat Moloney. The ‘Gooch’ added his second in the seventh minute from a free after a foul on Pat Moloney.

In the tenth minute it was John Gorman again who proved to be a thorn in Clonmore’s side when he toe-poked a ball to the back of the net after been sent clear on goal by Paddy Lynch and Glen Dolan. Clonmore responded with their opening score in the seventeenth minute from a ’45. Five minutes later they added their second but it was quickly cancelled out with the last score of the first half by Adrian Forde to leave four points between the sides.

Clonmore started the second half very strong and within the opening minute they had scored two points. Jamie Dolan replied in the third minute with his first point of the game but within the next nine minutes Clonmore scored 1-4 without reply. Jamie Dolan pointed from a free in the fourteenth but Clonmore again stretched their lead with two further points. In the nineteenth minute John Gorman reduced the deficit to four points with a pointed free after a foul on Pat Moloney. Clonmore scored two more points before John Gorman added his fourth point of the day in the twenty ninth minute.
