JUNIOR HURLERS

November 7, 2018

All roads led to Templemore last Saturday where our Junior A Hurlers were up against Kiladangan in the County Quarter Final. We were hoping to go further than last year where we were defeated at the quarter final stage. We started off slow and at one stage in the first half we were 9 points down and things were not looking good but a Tony O'Brien goal from a penalty left 5 points in it at half-time with the score 1-12 to 1-7. We started the second half better and another goal from Tony O'Brien from a free brought the teams level but unfortunately that was as good as it got for us. Kiladangan pulled away in the last 10 minutes and ended up winners on a scoreline of 2-20 to 2-14. Our lads showed great heart to recover from being so far behind to draw level but unfortunately could not push on. Once again our dream of winning a county title is over for another year but would like to thank all the players and management for their effort throughout the year. We still have a chance to win some silverware with the South Final against Ballybacon still to be played where will be hoping to win our 3rd consecutive title.

The team last Saturday was: Robbie McCormack, Shane Gorey, Damien Barry, Paddy Moroney, Conor Barry, Neil Gleeson, Nicky Kearney, Aidan Buckley, Danny Gleeson, Marcus O'Halloran, Tony O'Brien, Robbie Meagher, Brendan Gleeson, Richie Needham, Conor Clancy, Niall Keane, Mark Slattery, Willie O'Brien, Darren Boland, Ciaran Mockler, Eamon Needham, Conor Cuddihy.

As we went to print the fixtures for this weekend had not been finalized but there is the possibility of the South Final against Ballybacon-Grange being played on this Saturday.
