Junior Hurling Update

November 8, 2018

Our Junior ‘B’ Hurling championship semi final against Dungourney had been fixed for this Friday night but went off on account of the senior game. It has now been provisionally fixed for next Tuesday night August 21st at 7pm in Castlelyons. Dungourney are on a high this year with their Junior ‘A’ team defending East Cork Champions, hoping to retain their title. Their second string is also very strong and will be very tough opposition. Our team had a good game in the Ballyhooley Tournament final on last Friday night – losing by a single point. It would be a great boost for our second string to make it to the East Cork Junior ‘B’ final for the seventh time in the Club’s history. Go for it lads.

In a high scoring game at Ballyhooley on last Friday night the home side won the Hegarty Cup by a single point. We were well out of the game in the first half and trailed by 1-10 to 0-3 after twenty five minutes. A Colm O’Keeffe goal revived our fortunes and at the break we were in arrears by just 5 points. The second half was tit for tat hurling. An Alan O’Keeffe goal from a free put us a point ahead in the 22nd minute. With time running out Ballyhooley levelled and then with a late free, scored a winner.
