St. Patrick’s Under 14 football team which contested South-final.

Our UNDER 14 footballers travelled to Cahir for the South FINAL on THURSDAY last 30th MAY when they faced a very strong side from Kilsheelan-Kilcash who won by 5-12 to 4-3. Our boys gave it their all but unfortunately couldn’t contain the kilsheelan forwards who took some excellent scores.

The St. Patrick’s team was: Brendan Kearney Jack Meagher, Michael Boland, Eoin Ryan, Jamie Broderick, Darragh Hall, Barry O Dwyer, Eddie Hayes, Dale Murphy, Conor Duggan, Frank Meagher, Adam Cuddihy, Seán Ryan, Niall Mockler, James Fitzgerald, Robert Grant, and Thomas Phelan. Due to holidays Pauric O’Brien was not available to take his place on the field.

We thank the selectors Colm Duggan and James Ryan and the trainers Ciarán Mockler and Cathal Mahoney for the time and effort they put into getting this team to a South Final and a special word of thanks to the parents and grandparents who drove the players to training and matches over the last few months. Finally a word of thanks to the many supporters who travelled to Cahir last Thursday and to all the earlier games on the way to the South Final. We now turn our attention to hurling with the first round of championship due to start on july 4^th. Lets hope the lads can again reach the south-final and hopefully go one better and win a south title.

Our under 12 were also in action this week when they played a very fancied Ballyporeen in the south semi-final. The first half was closely fought with the teams level at 1-1 to 0-4 at half-time. Unfortunately Ballyporeen took control of the game in the second half and ran out comfortable winners. We thank Eamon Hall ,Declan Morrissey and jimmy O’Brien for the work they have put into this team and they now also turn their attention to hurling.

Last weekend was a busy one for Niamh Keane of Cappagh Cloneen. On Saturday Niamh travelled to Birr where she helped Tipperary under 14 Ladies Footballers to victory over Leitrim in the All-Ireland Semi Final. On Sunday Niamh was in The Gaelic Grounds in Limerick lining out with the Tipperary Primary Schools Camogie team against Limerick. Niamh is the third generation of Keanes to wear the Blue and Gold.
