U8’s get off to good start for ‘09
We had our first U8 football challenge game away to Glenville on Wed. 8th April. We had 20 players on the night and split into two teams of 8 with two subs each, with all players getting equal amounts of playing time. These games were very much focused on fun and both teams put up great performance and provided great entertainment for the supporters. The players who represented Bride Rovers on the night were: Patrick O’Flynn, Cian Hogan, Eoin O’Sullivan, Kieran Kearney, Mathew Quinn, Michael Quinlan, Eoghan O’Sullivan, Oisin Roche, Jack Ryan, Seamus Aherne, Joe Twomey, Conor Byrne, Rian Pegler, Dylan O’Leary, Darragh O’Sullivan, Tiernan McAllister, Cormac Finn, Adam O’Callaghan, Shaun Knox, Cathal Feehan.
Football training for the U8’s is on every Monday night from 7pm to 8pm in Pynes field, with hurling training on Friday nights at 7pm to 8pm now also in Pynes.

U10’s play Carrigtwohill in Decky Guckian League
Bride Rovers played round 6 of the Decky Guckian League in Rathcormac. The game was played on very heavy ground conditions. Entering this league was a baptism of fire for this young side but despite this they have grown in stature and tenacity as a team since the initial game.
Despite being only able to field 13 players on the night Bride Rovers entered the fray with great enthusiasm. The partnership of Adam O Sullivan and Conleth Ryan worked tirelessly at mid-field. Carrigtwohill opened the scoring with a goal and scored a further goal before Conleth Ryan opened the scoring with a point for the Rovers. He scored a further 2 cracking goals, 1 from a free and 1 from play. Conleth put in a superb performance for his side, throwing his body on the line on many occasions to save his side.
Adam O Sullivan used his superb pace and combined it with great clearance of the ball to enhance his side’s performance.
Brian Roche made a welcome return from injury and put in a huge performance especially in the first half. He went on to score a great goal for the rovers and his twin brother Eoin went to score another goal. Brothers Shane and Patrick O Flynn put in an heroic performances in the backline and were ably supported by John O Sullivan, Brian Roche and Jordan Mannix. Sean Knox brought off many great saves for the Rovers in goal.
John O Sullivan stepped up to score a further point for the Rovers. The forwards of Dathal Kent, James Buckley, Kieran Kearney and Conor Barry (captain) were unlucky not to convert more scores. Indeed for much of this match it was the Rovers side who produced the better hurling against the much fancied Carrigtwohill side. Carrigtwohill were lucky to emerge winners on a narrow margin of just 2 points. The final score was Carrigtwohill 5-1, Bride Rovers 4-2. Well done to all the players and to their mentors Donal Ryan and Donal Roche.
U14’s start their hurling league campaign
Our U14 hurlers had their first league game against St Catherines on Sunday 19th April. Unfortunately due to a number of players being unavailable due to injuries, etc. we were unable to field a full strength team. St. Catherines were much stronger on the night came out victorious in the end
