U8’s challenge Vs Sars
On Wednesday 19th August Sars U8’s came to Pairc Na Bride for a challenge match against the Bride Rovers U8 boys. Numbers travelling from Sars were low due to the bad weather on the night, with 16 arriving from the Glanmire club versus 24 from Rathcormac. Nonetheless, all boys got to play with two, 8 a-side, matches being run in parallel. With most of the Sars boys on the age of 8, and the Rovers players ranging from 5 years up, the physical strength and experience was obvious in the game with most of our younger boys playing, however, in the game with our older boys we showed that we can compete with the best of teams, beating Sars by a few scores at the end of the game.
The players representing Bride Rovers were: Dean Browne, Kieran Kearney, Eoghan O’Sullivan, Oisin Roche, Jack Ryan, Craig O’Callaghan, Joe Twomey, Rian Pegler, Dylan O’Leary, Darragh O’Sullivan, Cormac Finn, Adam O’Callaghan, Shaun Knox, Adam Grogan, Ronan O’Connell, Sam O’Mahony, Patrick O’Flynn, Michael Quinlan, Cian Hogan, Tomas Macak, Fionn McAuliffe, Ryan Cahill, Evan Murphy, Cillian Tobin.

U8’s have great day in Ballygilbin
On Saturday 22nd August, our U8’s went to Ballygiblin for the annual 12 aside “Horgans Delicatessen Supplies” sponsored blitz. We were placed in a group with St Catherines, Killavullen, Kilta Og, Lisgoold, Ballyduff, Cashel and Cahir. We played Lisgoold in our first game. Having played Lisgoold a number of times already this year, we knew this was going to be a tough game. Fortunately we came out on top in this match. This set us up for the next round against Cashel, who had previously won their first round game. The Rovers boys put in a great performance in this game to win well over the boys from Tipp, and set us up for a final game against the Waterford team of Ballyduff, who had also won all their games previously. This match took place an hour after the game against Cashel, so the boys got a rest and a chance to enjoy the treats in the catering tent. After a slow start to the game our boys got stuck in and produced a superb performance, aided by a memorable goal scored by our Keeper, Dean Browne, from a puck-out.
The standard of hurling in all three games by the Rovers boys and their opposition was excellent and each game was a pleasure to watch.
We would like to thank the Mitchelstown / Ballygiblin club and their sponsors for their hospitality on the day and congratulate them on a very successful day – they even managed to organise the weather for the occasion.
The boys who played for Bride Rovers were: Dean Browne, Kieran Kearney, Seamus Aherne, Jack Ryan, Craig O’Callaghan, Joe Twomey, Dylan O’Leary, Adam O’Callaghan, Shaun Knox, Patrick O’Flynn, Michael Quinlan, Cian Hogan, Evan Murphy
