Bride Rovers Juvenile GAA Club

U8’s Street leagues

On Friday 28th August we played the U8 Street Leagues in Pairc Na Bride. We had 22 players divided into four teams. The first half of each game was football, with hurling played for the second half. Each team played 3 matches with all boys participating in each game. The “Kilkenny” team won all their matches and so came out as overall winners on the night. After the games, Brian Murphy presented the captain of the winning team, Patrick O’Flynn, with the Pat O’Connor Perpetual Shield, and the boys enjoyed refreshments in the clubhouse.

It was great to see Mathew Quinn back after injury, welcome back Mathew.

The teams and their managers were as follows:

U12’s show great Character

Our U12 hurlers advanced through their first round of the East Cork hurling championship by beating St Catherines comprehensively last Wednesday night in Ballynoe, giving them a place against near neighbours Castlelyons in the East Cork final. This match was played in Castlemartyr on Monday 31st August with very wet conditions underfoot. The boys put up a superb performance and showed great character to bring the game back from near defeat twice in the final 10 minutes to end the game in a draw. Well done to all the boys on the panel for their contribution towards this result, and best of luck in the replay.
