Kate Russell All-Ireland Schoolgirls Championships

Kate Russell was one of the most influential figures in the history of the Irish Ladies' Hockey Union. Her utter dedication to the game was of huge benefit to the ILHU.

Kate died in 1978 after 50 years of service to the game, and two years after her death, the Kate Russell Schoolgirls Championships were instituted.

 

They have been played on an annual basis, the 2017 tournament taking place on Thursday, 23rd and Friday, 24th March in Banbridge, Co. Down

The following five teams, having won their provincial School's Cup Competition, will take part in the All-Ireland's:

 

Ulster:         Banbridge Academy, Banbridge

Munster:      Ursuline College, Thurles

Leinster:      Muckross College, Dublin

Connacht:     Coláiste Iognáid (The Jes), Galway

South East:  Kilkenny College, Kilkenny
