Sympathy
You are asked to remember in your prayers Billy Heney of Ballinahinch who passed away on Tuesday the 21st of September last after a long illness bravely borne. Billy was a Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams man through and through. From his younger days on the playing fields where he wore the amber and black of his beloved Kickhams with pride right through to his involvement in the day to day runnings of the club, Billy gave his all.He served as Senior Chairman for a number of years and was instrumental in 1999 in initiating the development projects at Pairc Ui Ciocaim that have continued under various officerships to this day and have resulted in the construction of a new stand, boundary wall and fence, dressing rooms, second pitch and hurling wall to mention but a few.Billy was also involved in team management over the years with the clubs senior hurlers as well as Juniors, U/21s and Minors and many juvenile teams and he enjoyed considerable success in those roles. As an officer he represented the Kickham club at divisional and County meetings on many occasions. He also served for many years as a steward on match days at Semple stadium. His love for the Kickham club extended to his children, all who played for the club in hurling football and camogie. One of his proudest GAA moments was when his son Fergal won an All Ireland minor hurling medal in 1996 and subsequently wore the Blue and Gold at U/21 and senior level.. We offer our deepest sympathies to his loving wife Mary, sons Raymond, Aiden, Fergal and Killian, daughter Sonya, brothers, sisters and extended family, neighbours and friends on their sad loss.He will be sadly missed by us all. As a mark of respect to Billy and the Heney family the club provided a guard of honour on the evening of his removal to Knockavilla Church Ar dheis De go raibh a anam dilis

 Kickhams Camogie Notes.
U/10 Our U10s were invited to Ballina (north Tipp) to take part in a blitz last Sunday, so an early morning start by bus beckoned as the panel set off from Dundrum. In a very well run blitz, the first games kicked off at 12noon. Our girls played Newport & emerged victorious. The host team of Ballina were next up, & at the final whistle both sides finished level. The final game saw Kickhams play Kilruane, & in a great display Kickhams were victorious. Many thanks to hosts Ballina for the invitation & for their hospitality shown. All our juvenile activity for the year has now drawn to a close. Many thanks to everyone who worked tirelessly with our U6s, U8s & U10s all year. To all the parents who helped out, & who encouraged their daughters to play, we are very grateful. Finally, to the players who turned up to training sessions & matches, well done, & we look forward to seeing you all again next year.

Junior Our junior panel are busy preparing for their championship semi final clash against Burgess/Duharra, which is fixed for the weekend of Saturday October 9th.

U/16 Our U16A combo team with New Inn has booked a semi final clash with Toomevara. A date for this game has yet to be finalised.

U/18 Meanwhile, combined with New Inn, our U18s played their first championship game against Silvermines last weekend. Despite loosing this game, the second half performance from the team was a promising one, & with 3 more games left in the group stages are still in with a good chance to make it to semi final stage. Before the start of this game, a minutes silence was observed as a mark of respect to the late Billy Heney.

Bon voyage Eimear. This U18 game marked the final appearance for a while in a Kickham jersey for Eimear Crowe as she heads out of the country to commence her third level studies. Eimear`s commitment & dedication to Camogie has been phenomenal. From a very early age, Eimear has been part of all Camogie teams as well as playing with juvenile GAA teams. Her love of the game always translated to her performances on the field, & her presence & involvement with the club will be sorely missed. All associated with Kickhams Camogie wish Eimear the very best of luck with her studies, & we are sure that somewhere in one of those suitcases she will pack a hurley & sliotar.
