SCOIL MHUIRE NOTES

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION

Congratulation to the pupils in Second Class who received the sacrament of Holy Communion for the first time on Saturday

17th May in the Church of the Assumption, Knockavilla. Well done to all the children, their parents, their Class Teachers

Ms Flynn and Mr Moran, Fr Egan and the school choir for making the ceremony so special. Thanks also to the Parents’

Association who organised the ‘cupán tae’ in the community hall – it gave all involved in this happy day an opportunity to

chat and catch up with friends and family.

HURLING AND CAMOGIE

The last few weeks have been very busy for the camogie players and hurlers in Scoil Mhuire. The U11 and U13 girls recently

took part in camogie blitzes and performed very well. The U 13 boys have had some great wins recently and are now through

to a semi-final against Kilsheelan. The U11 boys took part in a hurling blitz recently.

CONCERN AND TROCAIRE

Well done to the pupils, and staff for their great generosity towards the Developing World. In recent weeks they have

donated  to Concern (school fast) and  to Trocaire (Easter Egg raffle). Many thanks to the parents and the local community

for their support of the pupils and these charities.

NATURE WATCH

There is great excitement in the school at the moment as the pupils follow the day-to-day life of a pair of nesting blue

tits and their brood of seven chicks on camera. Ms Dalton is keeping everyone – pupils and staff alike – up-to-date with

the activity in the nest-box. The junior and Senior Infants, together with Ms Tierney, are also very busy with their school

garden, while Ms Flynn’s class is encouraging everyone to use the school compost heap.

JUNIOR CERT AND LEAVING CERT EXAMS

Best of luck to all our past pupils in the state exams. We will be thinking of you all and wishing you well during the next

few busy weeks.
