Junior Hurling
We played the Geraldine’s in our first outing of the Junior Hurling championship last Saturday evening in Colligan. We didn’t get off to a great start with the Geraldines opening up 3 points to no score lead early on. The game was nearly 10 minutes old when Kilrossanty registered their first score through a fine individual effort from county minor Kieran Power.  The Geraldine’s continued to dominate proceedings in the first half with Kilrossanty looking rusty, our first touch letting us down on a few occasions. Despite this we continued to keep the scoreboard ticking over with points from David Power, Kieran Power, Eoin Houlihan (free), and Alan Quinn (free) leaving us just 2 points adrift at the break, 8 points to 6. We started the second half poorly and within less than a minute of the ball being thrown in the Geraldine’s had added 2 further points to extend their lead to 4. Kieran Power and Alan Quinn (free) then replied for Kilrossanty but, as in the first half, our discipline was letting us down and the Geraldine’s restored their 4 point advantage from 2 placed balls. There was then a period in the game where you couldn’t be sure if the ball was even play, such was the extent of the flaking and wearing of timber that was going on. After that we had a good spell of play with Harty Cup winner Power, who was Kilrossanty’s stand out player on the day adding to further Quinn frees to leave us just 2 points off the pace and in with every chance heading into the last 5 minutes. Unfortunately it wasn’t to be and a late Geraldine’s goal finished off our challenge. Final score Geraldine’s 1-15 Kilrossanty 0-11. While the luck wasn’t with us on the day we have a very talented group of players this year and provided we do a bit of training we have a right good chance of qualifying for the knockout stages. Jinx will have a big order of new Hurley’s to fill for our next game which is fixed for Friday evening against Colligan in Bohadoon (subject to change)
