SENIOR LEAGUE

We travelled to Rathgormack for our opening game of the Senior League on Sunday the 1st of April. We got off to a bad start, conceding a soft goal within the first couple of minutes but once we settled we began to dominate the exchanges around the middle of the field and we enjoyed a lot of possession in the first half. Unfortunately we failed to take advantage of this possession as we were guilty of missing some good scoring opportunities. Despite this we went in a point to the good at the break 1-4 to 1-3 following a Michael Walsh goal and points per David Power, Eoin Houlihan and Paul Keating. We didn’t see as much ball in the second period but further points from Walsh and Keating as well as a fisted effort from substitute Ciaran Keating and a classic Niall Walsh skyscraper had us a point up heading into injury time. We failed to see out the final few minutes however and Rathgormack earned a draw with the last kick of the game. We play Dungarvan in the next round on the 15th of April.
MINOR FOOTBALL
We went down to two successive defeats in the minor football Championship last week when we were beaten by St.Olivers on Monday evening on a scoreline of 3-10 to 3-8 with our goals coming from Mossy Veale and a Kieran Power Penalty. Then with just a 2 day turn around we played The Brickeys in Leamybrien and were beaten by 3 points, 1-6 to 1-3. This leaves us with 2 wins and 2 losses in the championship leaving us with a lot of work for us to do if we are to make any waves in the knockout stages.
