Dunmore MacHales : GAA Club notes

Lá na gClub, 125th anniversary of GAA. On Sunday last the 10th May, Dunmore MacHales celebrated this milestone by having underage exhibition games at their GAA pitch. This event was such a huge success, as always the community spirit as well as the sun shone brightly on Pairc Mhic Eil on this glorious day. We were so blessed with the weather on the day I’m sure many of our deceased members had a hand in that and were looking down on us during the day. DJ Padraig Lee provided the music as he spun the disks and we thank him for his time. Refreshments were served for all we would like to thank all parents who obliged by supplying all the goodies. With face painters, clowns and a pink elephant menacingly hovering around our younger generation thoroughly enjoyed their afternoon.

At 11 am the morning kicked off with our U-10s and u-12s, followed by ourU-16s and U-8s at 12 noon. We had a huge turnout for these age groups. Our U-14s took over from 1 pm with our U-16s finishing proceedings in the pitch at 3 pm. In total approx 120 young players from age six to sixteen, participated in games during the afternoon. They in turn were presented with a 125 year commemoration medal. We complement all Juvenille committee members for their vision, ideas and enthusiasm. To coaches and mentors we thank them for their work and time during the year and wish them continued success for the future.

Dunmore Comhaltas Ceoltoiri played live in the square from 3.30 pm where  a number of our young Irish dancers graced the boards on the stage provided. Our gratitude once again to this local group who have entertained us at such events on many occasions in Dunmore.

The Juvenille Committee of Dunmore MacHales would like to thank all parents and officials who helped out with this celebration in whatever small way it may be your time and support is so appreciated and welcome as always. We wish to take this opportunity to thank our main sponsor for the day Glynn’s Bar, The Square and everyone else who supported this hugely successful day.
