May 11. U12 Camogie.

Ballinacurra       4-3                Bride Rovers 1-5.

Three early first half goals were the undoing of the Bride Rovers U12 camogie team on Tuesday, May 11 in Ballinacurra when we were defeated by 4-3 to 1-5. Rovers kept in touch with some fine points from Laura Quirke, rallied strongly in the second half and were finally rewarded with a fine goal from Emma Barry after several near misses. The Rovers back line was also in top form during this period and limited the opposition scores in the second half to 1-1. Our players found it difficult to find space and carry the ball on the tight pitch but credit must be given to Ballinacurra for good blocking skills also.

Friday, May 14. Ladies Football U12 East Cork League.

Bride Rovers 1-9.          Glanmire 3-5

Bride Rovers U12 Lions’ league campaign ended in defeat when they were defeated by Glanmire by 3-5 to 1-9 at Pynes on Friday,May 14.

The concession of goals proved costly, especially two conceded in the first half when Rovers enjoyed the assistance of both the wind and the hill. Points from Grace Culloty (0-3) and Emma Roche (0-2) kept us to within 1 goal of Glanmire at half-time but the second half task was daunting nonetheless. To the credit of the Rovers girls, they buckled down to the task and the back-lines tightened up considerably. Further points kept us in touch and we finally drew level when Emma Roche scored a well-deserved goal.

The game was very much up for grabs at that point, but Glanmire struck for what ultimately proved to be the decisive winning goal with only minutes remaining, and a late point from Grace was not enough to save the day.
