Under 8’s
On Saturday June 15th, our u8 girls travelled to Littleton to take part in a fun blitz organised by the Tipperary Ladies Football Development Board. 12 players were able to travel on the day and each one put in a very spirited display. We played 3 mini games against teams from Moycarkey, Templemore and Clonmel Commercials. For a lot of our girls this was their first time playing in anything like this so it was a worthwhile exercise for them to take part.
Representing St. Patrick’s were Clodagh Foley, Aoife O’Brien, Clodagh Horan, Sophie O’Brien, Claire O’Brien, Ailish Ryan, Laura Butler, Sarah Boland, Mia Danagher, Erin Moroney, Anna O’Dwyer and Emily Fox. Thanks to Shiela, Siobhan and Paula who organised the girls on the day. Also thanks to all parents who travelled to cheer their girls on. The girls would like to wish a speedy recovery to team mate Karol Ryan who was very disappointed to miss this blitz through injury.
We did not attend the under 10 girls blitz in Fethard on Saturday morning past, as a mark of respect to the Gahan family on the sudden death of Mrs Teresa Gahan (RIP), Rossane Cloneen, grandmother of our under 10 player Heather Gahan. Tipperary Ladies County Development Board are hosting an under 10 girls football blitz this Saturday the 29th of June in Littleton, further details to follow.
Under 12’s
Our under 12 girls bowed out of the under 12 D plate competition on Wednesday evening past, with defeat away against Emly. Our girls tried hard in the first half, however scores did not come their way and at the half time mark were trailing 2.3 to no score. However, they battled bravely throughout the second half and notched up 2 goals and a point to Emly’s one goal, which left the final score St. Patrick’s 2.1 to Emly’s 3.3. On the evening, Sarah Cranitch put in an impressive performance at full back, Olivia Noonan and Aine Ryan worked tirelessly throughout, team captain on the evening Aoife Horan displayed some outstanding defensive play and Chloe Healy worked really hard up front in converting two out of the three St. Patrick’s scores. Team lineout on the evening: Eimear Boland (1.0), Aishling Boland, Sarah Crannitch, Robyn Horan, Aoife Horan, Olivia Noonan, Avril White, Aine Ryan & Leanne Murphy, Erín O’Brien, Chloe Healy (1.1), Rachel O’Halloran, Ava Heffernan, Eabha Fitzgerald & Ciara Butler. Subs all used: Laura Hayes, Jessica Strappe, Kelly Burgess, Inez Noonan. There is now a two week break for under 12 training, with under 12 blitzes being organised for over the summer.
Gaelic for Others Team
St. Patrick’s Gaelic for Others/Mothers team travelled to the Munster Blitz in Mallow last Saturday the 22nd of June. A great day was had by all, there were 17 teams in total participating in the blitz and the St. Patrick’s team played four very competitive matches, in which there was some good football produced and some fine scores. The days activites then continued late into the evening with a night of music and craic in the Archway Bar in Drangan. Well done to all the ladies who travelled to Mallow to take part and to team mentors Helen Hogan and Trish Strappe.
Junior Team
Our junior team took part in the inaugural Pat Bourke memorial 10 aside tournament which was organised by the Gortnahue Ladies GAA club on Sunday past. We played four enjoyable games, firstly against the Gortnahue Ladies were we got narrowly beaten by 4 points. Next up, were the ladies from Moycarkey who proved to be extremely tough opposition and beat us by 5.8 to 2.2. Success then came our way in the final two games, were we beat Moyne by the narrowest of margins on a scoreline of 1.5 to 1.4 and in our final game against near neighbours Mullinahone we etched out a two point victory, 2.5 to 2.3. Well done to the following St. Patrick’s players who took part: Sarah Mockler, Shelley O’Dwyer, Maeve Brown, Sarah Sugrue, Niamh Dunne, Niamh Morrissey, Helen Hogan, Siobhan Vaughan, Úna O’Brien, Orla Meagher, Imelda O’Donovan, Lynda Nevin, Aileen Kelly & Deirdre O’Donovan. We would like to thank Helena Bourke and the Gortnahue Ladies GAA Club for inviting us to their tournament and for their hospitality & the refreshments they laid on. It was a good run out for our junior ladies in advance of the upcoming championship, which is scheduled to commence the week after next.
Recent Bereavements
St. Patrick’s Ladies GAA Club extend their sympathies to the family of Mr. Jimmy McGrath (RIP), great grand uncle of our juvenile players Siabdh, Dearbhla and Raignait Morrissey and uncle of Mrs. Helena Morrissey who died recently. Our thoughts and sympathies are also with the Gahan family in Cloneen on the very sudden death of Mrs Teresa Gahan (RIP), grandmother of our juvenile players Heather Gahan, Hannah and Molly White. Finally, as a club we send our heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the Flannery family in Clerihan on the tragic passing of Christian Flannery (RIP). May they all rest in peace.
