t. Patrick's Ladies GAA Club Notes w/c 08th of May 2017

Under 6’s, 8’ and 10’s

Training continues on Monday evenings at 7pm in Drangan field for our under 6, 8 and 10 girls.  The under 8 and 10 girls teams have been entered into regional blitzes – details to follow in the coming weeks.

Under 12’s

Our under 12 girls have been busy with their under 12 championship over the past few weeks and to date have played three games, firstly against Slievenamon and then Clerihan both away where they lost both games to much stronger teams.  However, their fortunes changed with their third round home match against Moyle Rovers last Monday 01st of May, in what was a very evenly balanced game.  St. Patrick’s started well with a point from Karol Ryan, with Moyle Rovers responding with a goal and a point, Clodagh Foley went on to score point from a free before Moyle Rovers got another point to see the half time score: St. Patrick’s 0.2 Moyle Rovers 1.2.  St. Patrick’s made a few changes made at half time and the girls went out to play some lovely football.  The backs fought hard to keep Moyle Rovers from scoring, with centre field working well to get the ball into the forwards, which resulted in two second half goals by Karol Ryan.   Moyle Rovers went onto score a further point in the second half.  A great team effort to give St. Patrick’s a well-deserved win.  Full time score: St. Patrick's 2.2 Moyle Rovers 1.3. Team lineout: Laura Butler, Ailish Ryan, Erin Moroney, Anna O Dwyer, Sophie O Brien, Claire O Brien, Orlaigh McGrath, Mary Ann Fitzgerald, Katie Power, Aoife O Brien, Clodagh Foley, Sarah Byrne, Sarah Boland, Faye Noonan, Karol Ryan and Emily Fox.

Under 14's

Well done to the u14 Cloneen/Drangan community games girls football team who won their opening round match vs Kilsheelin this evening on a score line of Cloneen/Drangan 0.11 Kilsheelin 2.3. The match was a game of two halves, whereby Kilsheelin played the much better football and stormed into 6 point lead in the first 20 minutes, which left the half time score: Cloneen/Drangan 0.3 Kilsheelin 2.3. Our girls then started to inch their way back into the game and worked incredibly hard and point by point, they drew level on the 30 minute mark. They went on to finish out the game, with three further unanswered points, which was the result of some great teamwork and fantastic defending. Team on the evening: Katie Power, Rachel Butler, Gemma Gahan, Isabelle Hayden, Laura Murphy, Erin O'Brien, Eabha Hogan, Ava Heffernan, Killeen Ryan, Siobhan O'Hanlon, Jess Strappe, Sadhbh Morrissey, Mia O'Dwyer, Niamh Boland, Karol Ryan and Clodagh Horan.  This means the team have qualified for the u14 girls football community games Tipperary South final and will play the winners of Powerstown or Fethard on / before the 17th of May.  Well done to Gemma Gahan who represented the club in the recent Feile skills competition.

Under 16’s

Unfortunately, we were unable to take part in the u16 county D blitz, which took place last weekend due to a number of girls being away on their school trip.  With the u16 championship now over, their attentions now turn to the minor championship.  All under 16 players are asked to take part in minor / junior training, in preparation for the minor championship over the summer.

Junior ladies

Well done to our junior ladies team, team manager Michael Moroney and selector Helen Hogan on recent junior C championship victories.  Second round match was a home fixture against Silvermines on Saturday 29th of April. Third round fixture was an away game against Thurles Gaels on Sunday 07th of May, which resulted in three wins out of three, beating Thurles Gaels on a score line of St. Patrick's 3.15, Thurles Gaels 3.5 Next up is the return match vs Emly at home, which is due to played in the next two weeks.
