Under 8’s and 10’s attend Passage West All Ireland Blitz (see attached photos)

Well done to our under 8 and 10 teams who took part in the Passage West All Ireland Under 8 and 10 blitz on Saturday past, of which there were over a 100 teams taking part. Whilst the weather conditions were very poor in the early part of the day, the girls thoroughly enjoyed the experience of playing teams from other counties and had a fantastic fun filled and colourful day out & played some wonderful football.
The under 8 team had 13 players that travelled to the blitz and they played 4 matches against Fermoy, Fossa, Banteer and Kilmacud Crokes. Once again this group of players were outstanding and showed that they were more than capable of competing with some of the biggest clubs in the country.
The team on the day was Kate Flanagan, Réiltín Kenny-Casey, Paige Molloy, Abbie Hennebry, Zoe Duggan, Lisa Byrne, Judy Kelly, Éabha Browne, Andrea Meagher, Mairead Keane, Lily Clancy, Evie Noonan & Tia Lonergan.
That now finishes under 8 season for this year. The very best of luck to all the girls moving up to under 10 next year. They are more than capable of making the step up. It has been a fantastic year with this great bunch of girls and we all can look forward to seeing them continuing to improve and progress. Thanks to everyone that helped out during the year at training and driving to matches. Special acknowledgement and thanks to the under 8 coaches Maeve Browne, Jerry Kelly and Anita Hennebry, for all their commitment and hard work with this group of girls throughout the year.
The under 10 team had 16 players attend the blitz and they had four games against Firies (Kerry), Illen Rovers (Cork), Banteer (Cork) and O’Donavan Rossa’s (Cork). Fantastic fun and enjoyment was had by all despite the rain.
Players on the day: Abbie Slattery, Niamh O’Brien, Matilda Molloy, Rosie O’Brien, Lucy Power, Kara O’Dwyer, Grace Noonan, Leanne Casey, Rachel Kelly, Aoibheann Sugrue, Claire Fitzgerald, Dawn Moroney, Kate Fox, Milly Cleere, Marissa Meagher and Siobhán Hogan. Coaches: Margaret Hogan, Audrey Moroney and Aileen Sugrue.
Many thanks to pupils and teachers Drangan and Cloneen National Schools for their help and wonderful ideas & banners for the parade. To parents and families that were able to travel and to anyone that helped in any way we are very grateful. To the 29 girls, who took part & represented themselves and Peil Na MBan Naomh Padraig with great enthusiasm and sportsmanship, both on and off the field, we are very proud of you all.
Special thanks to all the coaches and those from the club, especially Margaret Hogan for all their coordination and work behind the scenes to ensure the blitz went off smoothly. Finally, a big thanks to the Passage West Ladies football club for the invite to their fantastic blitz and acknowledgement on the smooth and efficient running of your blitz, considering the number of teams that participated.
