Dinner Dance: The night we have all been waiting for has arrived with our Dinner Dance taking place on Saturday night next, 5 January in The County Arms Hotel, Birr. The Intermediate hurlers and Minor footballers will be presented with their medals. Music by The Legends. There are a limited number of tickets on sale priced at €40. A great night is in store.

Adjourned AGM: The Adjourned AGM was held on Saturday, 22 December last. William Harding was elected Treasurer while Jack Maher is the new registrar with all membership payable to him at Gurteen, Rathcabbin. William Harding will also double up as Alcohol & Substance Abuse Officer. The club also debated at length the structure for the senior hurling championship and overwhelmingly supported the Kilruane motion whereby Lorrha would have four games in the North Championship to reach the county championship stage while relegation would also be scrapped. The decision on the county championship structure will take place at the county board meeting on 22 January.

Membership: Membership for 2008 is now available. €30 – Adult Players; €20 – Non Playing Adults; €15 – Minor/College Students and Juveniles (with match ticket draw entry); €10 – Juveniles (without match ticket draw entry). All membership is payable to registrar Jack Maher.

Christmas Draw: Our Christmas Draw took place on 23 December and the winners are as follows: 1 – One years membership of Leisure Centre at County Arms Hotel: Brian Gleeson, Lordspark; 2 – Load of Timber: Caitlin Hannify; 3 – Hamper: Liam Hogan, Puckane; 4 – Meal for Two: Stacey Sullivan, Rathcabbin; 5 – Meat Voucher: PJ Nevin, Glenbower; 6 – Cosmetic Set: Olive Dwan, Nenagh; 7 – Lorrha Jacket: Tina Young; 8 – Bottle of Brandy: David Needham; 9 – Bottle of Whiskey: Owen Clancy; 10 – Box of Chocolates: Eamonn Smyth, Killeen. Thank you to all who sold and bought tickets for the draw.

DVD’s: Copies of both the North and County Intermediate hurling championship finals are still available at €20. There are also copies of the 2006 Minor final still available.

Lotto: The numbers drawn on 30 December were: 10 – 15 – 23 – 28. No Winner.
The Lucky Dips were: Nuala Maher, Irene Dolan, Brid O’Meara (Portumna), Martin Kennedy (Grange) and C&A, c/o Agnes Sherlock. The Winning Promoters were: Brophys, PJ Hogan, Joe Cleary.
The €11,600 Jackpot will be drawn on Monday night in Kelly’s with Team 4 in charge of the draw. Thank you for your continued support.

Old Time Dancing: Our Old Time Dancing continues in the GAA Clubhouse on Friday night to the music of Catherine & the Images. Dancing 9.30pm to 12.30am.

Sympathy: Lorrha GAA Club would like to sympathise with the Gleeson family, Lordspark on the death of Bridget McLoughney, Ardcroney who died recently. May she rest in peace.
