Lotto: Our jackpot reached a record high of €18,050 this week. Thanks to everyone who is supporting our lotto, which is the clubs main source of fundraising. With the jackpot currently high, the number of players is growing by the week, particularly online on www.locallotto.ie where it is easy to play the lottery every week. Tickets are €2 each or three for €5.
Senior: Lorrha got back to winning ways with a 3-17 to 0-14 win over Kilruane MacDonaghs in the league last week. Our scheduled games against Moycarkey was postponed. Our second North Championship game v Roscrea has been fixed for Cloughjordan on this Saturday, 1 May @ 5.45pm.
Junior: The juniors were defeated 2-15 to 1-11 by Templederry in the second round of the league last Saturday. Next up is a game against Kilruane in Cloughjordan on Monday @ 4pm.
Minor: The minors lost out to Shannon Rovers Gaels by 2-9 to 1-6 in the second round last week. Next up is Ballina in Moatfield on Wednesday, 28 April @ 7pm.
U14: Lorrha are now through to the North ‘C’ Final and will play neighbours Shannon Rovers Gaels in the final in Borrisokane on this Saturday, 1 May @ 12.30pm. Best of luck to the players and mentors.
U12: The Under 12s were beaten by Portroe in Moatfield in their final group game on Friday. Attention now turns to the hurling championship.
Cúl Camp: This years Lorrha GAA Cúl Camp will take place on the week of 19-23 July. The camp is open to all boys and girls from age six upwards. Each participant will receive a kit which will include jersey, socks, togs and gear bag. Application forms are being distributed through the schools this week. The cost for one child is €55, two children €100 and three children €135. All enquiries to Martina Houlihan 087-9138248.
Tipp Draw. All outstanding money from 09/10 is to be paid asap. New draw is starting in early May. A meeting of club promoters will be arranged shortly.
Old Time Dancing: Old Time Dancing continues on Friday night to the music of The Crusaders. Dancing 9.30pm to 12.30am.
Sympathy: Lorrha GAA Club would like to sympathise with the Hogan family, Nenagh on the death of Peter Hogan who passed away last week. Peter was a great player and great supporter of Lorrha. He played mostly in the half forward line, winning a county juvenile title in 1957 before helping Lorrha win the 1966 North Senior title. His teammates and members of the Lorrha club formed a Guard oh Honour at his funeral in Nenagh on Tuesday, 27 April before his internment in Lisboney cemetery. May he rest in peace.
