Lorrha GAA News for 1 September

November 8, 2018

Senior: Lorrha were scheduled to play Ballina in the Seamus O Riain Cup on Saturday. Despite neither team having anything to play for, disappointingly we were unable to field a team and it brings an end to our hurling year. Thanks to all the players and mentors for their efforts.

Under 21: Lorrha have an outstanding North U21 'B' hurling championship first round game against Shannon Rovers which is likely to be played in the coming weeks.

Minor: Lorrha Rovers Gaels will play Toomevara in the North Minor 'A' hurling semi-final on Thursday 30th August in Borrisokane at 6.30pm. Best of luck to the players and mentors. All support would be appreciated.

Under 16: Lorrha Rovers Gaels will play Toomevara in the North Under 16 'A' hurling quarter final on Monday 3rd September in Toomevara at 6.45pm.

Under 14: Lorrha will play Newport in the North U14 'B' hurling semi-final in Newport this evening, Wednesday 29th August at 7.00pm.

Under 11: Lorrha are taking part in the U11 Hurling Plate and are in the 'B' grade. They started last Monday week with a 2-4 to 2-2 defeat, away to Kiladangan. Last Monday, they hosted Newport in Moatfield and won 3-4 to 1-3. This Friday, they host Roscrea in Moatfield at 7.00pm.

Tipperary: Well done to the Tipperary Under 21 Hurlers in the All Ireland final against Cork on Sunday.

Darragh Guinan (U14) and Colm Fogarty & Michael Tierney (U16) were part of the Tipperary teams in the inter-county tournaments last weekend. Darragh was with the 'A' squad at the Tony Forrestal tournament in Waterford while Colm and Michael were on the U16 squad at the Foley tournament in Wexford where they lost by a point in the final.

Lotto: The jackpot is €6,150 with a Match 3 pot of €100. You can play online at www.locallotto.ie.

Social Dancing: in the GAA Centre on Friday to the music of Peter Burke. Dancing 9.30pm to 12.30am.

Sympathy: Lorrha GAA Club would like to sympathise with the Reddan family on the death of Ann Reddan, Cullagh, Rathcabbin, who past away last weekend. May she rest in peace.
