Lorrha GAA News for 11 October

November 8, 2018

Junior: Lorrha 0-12 Moneygall 0-17
Lorrha missed out on the North Junior ‘A’ title after losing to Moneygall in miserable conditions on Saturday in Nenagh. It was disappointing to fall at the final hurdle after playing nowhere near our potential. The first half was frustrating playing with the breeze and only going in level. We hung in gamely in the second half with Moneygall pulling away late on. See Match Report.
All is not lost however as we still progress to the county quarter finals with Emly being our opponents on Sunday next, 12 October in Newport at 1pm.

U21: The Under 21 Championship semi-final with Templederry has been provisionally pencilled in for weekend 18-19 October. All players that have been missing from the training field in recent months are to make a return.

U14: Lorrha 1-13 Knockavilla Kickhams 3-8 (AET)
It was cruel on our young heroes to lose out in such a cracking contest. Like the drawn game, there was very little to separate such evenly matched sides. However, in extra time, Knockavilla managed to conjure a goal that proved to be the key moment over the two games. See Match Report.
While the team and selectors might not have brought back county honours, they can still be proud of their efforts and on another day it could have gone another way.

600 Draw: There has been an incredible demand for Tickets for our ‘600’ Limited draw. Tickets are still available at €100 each but they are running out fast. Top prize is a Ford Focus 1.6D car or €15,000. There will also be eleven other prizes ranging from €3,000 to €100. Ticket sellers will be calling to all homes in the parish this week promoting this exciting draw. The draw itself will take place in the GAA Clubhouse on Bank Holiday Sunday, 26 October when the club will be hosting a social evening.

Football: Well done to Patrick & Kevin Maher who won North Senior Football Championship medals with Thomas MacDonaghs three weeks ago.

Jerseys: With our juniors and underage teams doing so well, why not be decked out in the Lorrha colours. There are still some of the new jerseys available but stocks are running out fast. Polo-shirts, juvenile jackets, shorts and socks are also available while stocks last. All can be purchased from Shane Brophy.
