Lorrha GAA News for 12 March

Senior: Lorrha will host Moyne-Templetuohy in the opening round of the County Challenge Cup in Moatfield this Sunday, 13th March at 12 noon. Your support would be appreciated.

Under 16: Lorrha Rovers opening football championship match against Nenagh Eire Og was postponed last Saturday due to the poor weather. Lorrha Rovers Gaels host Ballina in TBC next Saturday at 4pm.

Under 12: Lorrha will begin their 'B' football championship campaign next Saturday, 12th March against Kilruane MacDonaghs in Cloughjordan at 2.00pm

Medal Presentation: The Junior 'B' hurlers who won the North League in 2014 and 2015 will be presented with their medals in the GAA Centre on Saturday, 19th March at 9.30pm. More information next week.

Colleges: Well done to Paddy Reddin who was part of the University of Limerick panel that won the All Ireland Colleges Freshers 'B' Hurling title last week.

Lotto: Our jackpot is now €6,300 with a Match 3 pot of €140. Thank you for your continued support. You can play our lotto online at www.locallotto.ie where it is easy to play every week. Tickets are €2 each or three for €5.

Membership: for 2016 is now due. Rates were also confirmed with all inclusive of Gym membership: €90 – Adult player; €50 – Minor/College student; €30 – Non-playing Adult (+€70 extra for gym membership for 12 months); €20 – Juvenile (16 and under); €90 – Family (2 adults and 2 children, capped at €100 for three or more children).

Closing date is 31st March. This date will be strictly enforced and no monies will be accepted beyond this date. It is important to remember that our total number of adult members by 31st March is the number the County Board will use towards our ticket allocations for Tipperary games so it is in your interest to have membership paid by then. 1916 Commemoration Day: Lorrha GAA Club in association with Lorrha & Dorrha Historical Society are hosting a 1916 Commemoration Day and celebration of local heritage in the GAA Centre, Moatfield on Easter Sunday, 27th March at 3pm.

All are invited to attend events which include a celebration of Lorrha GAA and a reenactment of hurling from the 1916 era which promises to be an exciting event as the parish is split into four mixed teams which will battle for their townland. This will be followed by a reading of the proclamation of independence and raising of the tri-colour by schoolchildren from Lorrha, Rathcabbin and Redwood National Schools.

These activities will be followed by refreshments in the Clubhouse and traditional music from local band Tradstone and guest musicians. There will also be prizes for the best adult and child outfit as everyone is urged to dress in the style of 1916.

Poker Classic: Lorrha GAA Club will be holding a Poker Classic in the GAA Centre this Saturday, 12th March from 8pm. Tickets €10 are on sale and there will also be a draw as part of the night.

Lorrha CountryFest 2016: Tickets (€20) are available from Kevin Molloy (0876738986) for this years Country Music Festival at Moatfield which takes place on Sunday, 17th July from 12 noon to 7pm. Line-up includes Mike Denver, Robert Mizzell, Louise Morrissey, The Conquerors, Johnny Brady, Pete Kennedy, Sean Slattery & The Connections as well as local band Tradstone. A day not to be missed!

Social Dancing: on Friday night to the music of Adrian Ryan. Dancing 9.30pm to 12.30am.
