Lorrha GAA News for 16 August

Club Development: Lorrha GAA Club are seeking tenders for building of an extension to the Clubhouse in Moatfield. All those interested can contact the club secretary Shane Brophy on 086-0515324 or write to Lisballyard, Rathcabbin, Roscrea for an information pack on the project. All tenders to be submitted by 31 August.

Junior: Lorrha’s final group game with Toomevara will take place on Monday evening in Cloughjordan at 7pm.

U/21: Lorrha v Kilruane will take place in Ballinderry on this Saturday at 4pm.

Minor: The minors are still awaiting their fate as to weather they will have a playoff or a quarter final next week.

U/16: Well done to our Under 16’s who reached the North ‘B’ final with a good win over Moneygall on Friday evening. They will now play Borris-Ileigh or Shannon Rovers Gaels in the final.

U/14: The Under 14’s maintained their unbeaten run with a draw against fellow unbeaten Portroe last week. Lorrha have one group game against Borris-Ileigh in Borrisoleigh this evening at 7pm.

Jerseys: There are a small number of jerseys in some sizes still available by contacting the club secretary.

Tickets: All tickets ordered for Sundays All Ireland semi-final are to be collected and paid for on Thursday evening in the Clubhouse at 9pm. No ticket requests will be dealt with after this date.

Camogie Fundraiser: The Camogie Club are holding a fundraising table quiz in The Friars Tavern on this Friday night, 15 August. A raffle will also take place on the night with tickets on sale from the players at €2 each with the top prize being a signed Tipp jersey. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Tipperary: Hard Luck to Ciaran Haugh and the Tipperary minor hurlers as well as the minor footballers last weekend as well as the minor camogie team with Catherine O’Meara and Caoimhe Kennedy part of that panel. All eyes now turn to Croke Park on Sunday and the senior semi-final against Waterford and we wish Liam Sheedy, his selectors and panel the very best of luck at they aim to get to the All Ireland Final.

Parish Golf Outing: The Lorrha Parish Golf Outing takes place in Portumna GC on Saturday, 30 August. Tee-off times from 9am to 1pm with the timesheet with Tony Coen on 090-9747972.

Lotto: The numbers drawn on 4 August were: 4 – 12 – 13 – 29. No Winner.
The Lucky Dips were: Judy Sullivan, Jake Cleary, E Mannion (Curragha), Madeleine Maher and Billy Kennedy. The Winning Promoters were: Kellys, Margaret Gleeson and Louis McCormack.

From next Monday night, all lotto draws will take place in the GAA Clubhouse. The draws will take place 10pm and all are welcome to attend. We would like to thank at the public houses in the parish for their hospitality since the lotto began in the mid-nineties and thank them for continuing to promote the draws in their establishments.

Old Time Dancing: Our Old Time Dancing continues in the GAA Clubhouse on Friday night to the music of Footloose. Dancing 9.30pm to 12.30am.

Lorrha Camogie

Training: Training continues on Tuesday and Thursday night. All players need to attend as the first round of Junior ‘A’ championship is on Wednesday, 20th August at home against Duharra. Time to be confirmed next week.
Also insurance money must be paid up and sponsorship cards must be handed up today Wednesday the 13th.

Fundraiser: We are having our fundraising night and quiz in The Friars Tavern, Lorrha on this Friday night. 15th August at 9pm. The quiz is €40 a table, 4 per table, with Ken Hogan as MC and Aidan McIntyre as Quizmaster. Afterwards, there will be a DJ and food and great prizes in the raffle like a signed Tipp jersey to be won so a great night should be in store. Your support is greatly appreciated!

Tipp: The club would also like to say hard luck to Caoimhe Kennedy and Catherine O’Meara who were part of the Tipperary Minor camogie team who lost the All Ireland semi final on Saturday last against a strong Clare side in Limerick.

Get well: We wish a speedy recovery to Mary Hogan in her recent operation.
