Lorrha GAA News for 16 May

Senior: Our senior produced a disappointing performance when losing to Templederry by five points on Sunday. See Match Report.
We now face a must win game against Kilruane MacDonaghs in Borrisokane on this Friday @ 7.30pm.

Minor Football: Our Minor footballers suffered a heavy defeat to Kilruane MacDonaghs in the North semi-final last week. Despite missing a number of players, the team plugged away in heavy conditions but Kilruane proved too strong.

U16: The Under 16’s took on Nenagh in the North Final on Monday last. See Match Report.

Lá na gClub: Our Lá na gClub celebrations will now take place on this Sunday, 17 May. A full programme of events will take place including underage blitzes, novelty events as well as fun events for all the family. Millennium hurling goalkeeper Tony Reddin will also be attending.

Membership: Membership for 2009 is now available with the closing date of this Sunday, 17 May. Only fully paid up members get access to tickets to the Munster Championship game v Cork on 31 May. €40 – Adult Players; €20 – Non Playing Adults; €15 – Minor/College Students and Juveniles (with match ticket entry); €10 – Juveniles (without match ticket entry). All players must have their membership paid before the start of the league and all membership is payable to club registrar Jack Maher or any committee member.

Tipp Draw: This is a massive source of revenue with 50% of each subscription coming back to the club. We look forward to your continued support. Any new people wishing to join should contact club coordinator Margaret Gleeson or any of the promoters. The first Draw will be held on Friday June 5th with an Audi A6 or €50,000 as first prize. Tickets are €100 for the year with multiple payment options

Golf Classic: Our Golf Classic takes place again in Birr Golf Club on Friday, 19 June. Teams of 4 are €220 while hole sponsorships are €100 each. Timesheets are will Michael Liffey 087-2578370 or Tony Coen 087-6219639.

Courses: Last year, the club purchased a defibrillator for use in emergency situations and anyone interested in taking part in a course on how to use it can contact William Harding on 086-8062341. Anyone interested in taking a physio/masseurs course can also call William Harding for further details.

All lotto draws take place in the GAA Clubhouse on Monday night. The draw takes place at 10pm and all are welcome to attend. Thank you for your continued support.

Old Time Dancing: Old Time Dancing resumes on Friday night to the music of Denis Doyle. Dancing 9.30pm to 12.30am.

Sympathy: Lorrha GAA Club would like to sympathise with the Ryan family, Ballymcegan on the death of John Ryan who died over the weekend. May he rest in peace.

Junior: We played Drom & Inch on Friday and came out with a great win. Well done to players and mentors. We now are in the league semi final which will be played in the next couple of weeks.
Best wishes and speedy recovery to Aoife Brady who picked up a nasty hand injury and Elaine Hough who is also on the mend.

County: Hard luck to the Lorrha girls who lost with the Tipperary minors.

Exams: Best of luck to all girls doing college exams and leaving cert and junior cert exams.
