Lorrha GAA News for 17 April

Lotto: Our jackpot reached a record high of €17,750 this week. Thanks to everyone who is supporting our lotto, which is the clubs main source of fundraising. With the jackpot currently high, the number of players is growing by the week, particularly online on www.locallotto.ie where it is easy to play the lottery every week. Tickets are €2 each or three for €5.

Support Your Club: If you are a Vodafone customer, you can now support Lorrha GAA club by signing up to Vodafone Support your Club for free. At no cost to you, 5% of your monthly bill or top-up will go directly to the club. Club members and supporters need to register at www.supportyourgaaclub.ie

Senior: Our seniors got off to a poor start in the North Senior Championship with a very disappointing defeat to Burgess on Saturday. See Match Report. Our next championship game is against Roscrea in Cloughjordan on Saturday, 1 May. It’s back to league action this Sunday when Kilruane MacDonaghs come to Moatfield for a 12 noon start.

Junior: The junior hurlers finally get their league campaign underway this Sunday against Moneygall in Moatfield. Throw-in is @ 6pm.

U21 Hurling: The U21 hurling losers group game v Toomevara will take place this Saturday in Puckane @ 6pm.

Minor: Our minor footballers will begin their campaign against Borrisokane in Moatfield on Thursday, 14 April @ 6.45pm. Our second game follows quickly on Monday evening against Shannon Rovers Gaels in Ballinderry @ 6.45pm

U16: The U16s played their final group game against Kilruane MacDonaghs on Monday evening. News next week.

U14: Well done to the U14 who beat Shannon Rovers Gaels in their second game in Moatfield last Thursday. The final score was 2-8 to 2-2. Lorrha are now through to the North semi-final.

U12: The Under 12’s suffered two defeats to Shannon Rovers Gaels and Templederry over the last week. Next up is a trip to Ballinahinch this Friday @ 6.45pm.

U10: Training moves to Moatfield this Friday evening @ 7pm.

Cúl Camp: This years Lorrha GAA Cúl Camp will take place on the week of 19-23 July. The camp is open to all boys and girls from age six upwards. Each participant will receive a kit which will include jersey, socks, togs and gear bag. Application forms are being distributed through the schools this week. The cost for one child is €55, two children €100 and three children €135. All enquiries to Ruth Needham.

Tipp Draw. All outstanding money from 09/10 is to be paid asap. New draw is starting in early May. A meeting of club promoters will be arranged shortly.

Old Time Dancing: Old Time Dancing continues on Friday night to the music of Pat & Richie. Dancing 9.30pm to 12.30am.
