Lorrha GAA News for 17 October

November 8, 2018

Senior: The senior season ended in disappointment on Sunday when we were defeated by Kilruane MacDonaghs in the O’Riain Cup Final. See Match Report.
After a bright start, we could not sustain it and if a couple of goal chances had gone in, the game could have turned out differently. Thanks to the players for their commitment through the year, which has been a positive one with a number of steps forward taken.
Thanks also to Ken Hogan and his selectors Seamus Deely, Colm Kennedy and Tommy Kennedy for their work throughout the year.

Camogie: Congratulations to the Junior camogie team on winning the county title on Saturday. Best of luck to them in their Munster semi-final next weekend as well as at Intermediate level in 2010.

College Bursaries: Application forms are now available for third level students for the GAA’s National Bursaries scheme. If granted, bursaries are worth €1000 per year. There is also an additional scheme for those that attend college in Munster. Closing date is 1 November.

Support Your Club: If you are a Vodafone customer you can now support the Lorrha club by signing up to Vodafone Support Your Club for free. At absolutely no cost to you 5% of your monthly bill or top up will go directly to the club. Club members and supporters also need to register at www.supportyourgaaclub.ie

Old Time Dancing: Old Time Dancing resumes on Friday night to the music of Catherine & Images. Dancing 9.30pm to 12.30am.

Sympathy: Lorrha GAA Club would like to sympathise with the Dolan family on the death of Fintan Dolan, Abbeyville who died last week after a long illness.
Fintan played for Lorrha through the juvenile ranks and played a key role in Lorrha’s greatest ever year in 1966 when he played at midfield on the Junior team that won the North title and the Under 21 team which won North and county honours. He played at senior level for a number of years in early 70’s. The club afforded him a Guard of Honour at his funeral on Thursday last and a minutes’ silence was observed at last Sunday’s O’Riain Cup Final. Ar dheis de go raibh a anam dilis.

LORRHA CAMOGIE
Junior: Congratulations to the Junior camogie team who won the county title with a deserved 3-9 to 1-8 win over Clonoulty in The Ragg on Saturday afternoon. See Match Report.
The victory ensures that Lorrha will play at Intermediate level in 2010 but before then, we will represent Tipperary in the Munster semi-final against the Cork champions, Clonakilty in Mahon, Co. Cork on Sunday @ 4pm. this weekend. A supporters bus has been organised and you can book your seat by contacting Mahers shop in Lorrha.
