Lorrha GAA News for 2 April

Senior: The senior hurlers will be next in action in the opening round of the County Championship when they play Portroe in Nenagh on Sunday, 10th April at 3.30pm

Minor: Lorrha Rovers suffered a 2-4 to 0-4 defeat to Ballinahinch/Templederry in Shallee last Friday in the first round of the Minor 'B' Football Championship. They how face a must-win game against Borrisokane in Ballinderry this evening (Wednesday) at 6.30pm

Under 16: Lorrha Rovers defeated Nenagh Eire Og 3-7 to 3-3 in the first round of the football championship on Monday week last. They play Ballina in the second round on Thursday in Ballinderry at 6.30pm. Next Monday they will play Borris-Ileigh in Borrisoleigh at 6.30pm

Under 12: The under 12s took on Toomevara on Tuesday evening, result next week. Next Tuesday they host Burgess in Moatfield at 6.30pm.

Garda Cup: Well done to Daniel O'Donoghue and Alan O'Meara who were on the North Tipperary panel that competed in the Garda Cup Under 16 Inter-divisional tournament last Saturday.

Membership: Closing date is this Thursday, 31st March. The club will be holding its final membership registration night on Wednesday 30th March from 8 to 9.30pm.

It is important to remember that our total number of adult members by 31st March is the number the County Board will use towards our ticket allocations for Tipperary games so it is in your interest to have membership paid by then. Membership can be paid to club registrar Louise Mannion or online at www.locallotto.ie

Rates were also confirmed with all inclusive of Gym membership: €90 – Adult player; €50 – Minor/College student; €30 – Non-playing Adult (+€70 extra for gym membership for 12 months); €20 – Juvenile (16 and under); €90 – Family (2 adults and 2 children, capped at €100 for three or more children).

Tipperary Clubs Draw: With the 2015-2016 Tipperary Draw entering its final weeks, all promoters and subscribers are asked to bring your accounts up to date and contact Margaret Gleeson.

1916 Commemoration Day: held last Sunday was a tremendous success. Thank you to all those who played their part, particularly David Broderick and the Lorrha Historical Society. Men and women, young and not so young lined out in a hurling match all decked out in the style of 1916. After the game, the proclamation was read by children from the three local national schools who then raised three tri-colours while the National Anthem was sung by Darren Bourke who then joined Tradstone for an evening of music in the Clubhouse. A nice way for the parish to acknowledge the centenary of 1916.

Lorrha CountryFest 2016: Tickets (€20) are available from Kevin Molloy (0876738986) for this years Country Music Festival at Moatfield which takes place on Sunday, 17th July from 12 noon to 7pm. Line-up includes Mike Denver, Robert Mizzell, Louise Morrissey, The Conquerors, Johnny Brady, Pete Kennedy, Sean Slattery & The Connections as well as local band Tradstone. A day not to be missed!

Social Dancing: on Friday night to the music of John O'Gorman. Dancing 9.30pm to 12.30am.
