November 8, 2018

Senior: The seniors take on Carrick Swans in the first round of the Seamus O’Riain Cup in Boherlahan on this Friday at 7.30pm.

Junior Hurling: Lorrha 3-13 Kilruane 1-17
Lorrha are through to the knockout stages of the Junior ‘A’ Championship after a hard-earned win in Borrisokane on Sunday afternoon. Lorrha began poorly but goals from Brendan Coen and Patrick Hough gave Lorrha a 2-5 to 0-10 lead at half time. Patrick Hough struck for his second goal early in the second half but it took late points from Brendan Coen and Donal Kennedy to seal the win. Lorrha have one group game remaining against Toomevara, which will decide if we play a quarter final or go straight into the semi-finals.

Minor Hurling: Lorrha took on Borris-Ileigh in an important final group game on Tuesday night and were defeated by 2-13 to 1-7. Lorrha will now go into a quarter final or a playoff depending on the result of the Toomevara v Borris-Ileigh game.

U/14: The U/14’s continued their good form with a big win over then until unbeaten Ballina on Saturday. Score: Lorrha 5-16 Ballina 1-3. Lorrha have three group games remaining against Borris-Ileigh, Portroe and Moneygall with the game against Moneygall fixed for Thursday, 31 July in Moneygall while Portroe come to Moatfield on Tuesday evening next, 5 August.

Jerseys: The new Lorrha jerseys are available for collection. All jerseys must be paid for when collected. There are also a number of jerseys in limited sizes still available to buy. €35 for sizes 5-6 to 10-11 and €45 for sizes 13-14 to XXL.

Cul Camp: The Lorrha GAA Cul Camp got underway on Monday morning with 59 children taking part. We were blessed with the weather for the week with just heavy showers appearing on the final afternoon. Thanks to everyone involved with Len Gaynor overseeing the camp with the help of Stephen Murphy, Cian Hogan, Ciaran Haugh, Seamus Hennessy, Alan Byrne, Sabrina Larkin and Katie Kennedy. County and Munster Council Chairmen, John Costigan and Jimmy O’Gorman also made an appearance on Tuesday as did Tipperary senior stars Shane McGrath and Seamus Callinan. A great week was had by all.

Camogie Fundraiser: The Camogie Club are holding a fundraising table quiz in The Friars Tavern on Friday, 15 August. A raffle will take place on the night with tickets going on sale this week at €2 each with the top prize being a signed Tipperary jersey plus many other great prizes. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

Tipperary: Hard luck to Noel Hogan, Ronan O’Meara, Kevin & Patrick Maher and the Tipperary Intermediate team that lost the Munster Final last week. However, it was great to see four players from the club on the field at the one time during the game. Hopefully there will be better luck for Kevin and Patrick when they line out for the Under 21’s in the Munster Final this evening. Well done also to the Tipp minors on reaching the All Ireland semi-final.
