Lorrha GAA News for 21 December

Auction: Our annual Auction took place at the GAA Centre last Sunday and thanks to all who purchased any of our 60+ lots of timber, turf and farm feed. Thanks to Declan O’Meara, Mike Molloy, Keith Brady, Shane Broderick, Joe Dolan, Willie Rigney, Eamon Sherlock and Matt John Gormley for provding the trees this year for to all the club members and supporters who helped out in terms of cutting, splitting, loading and delivering in recent weeks. Thanks to Willie Rigney and Trevor Hogan for running the auction and to Willie Harding and the Camogie club for providing the refreshments inside. A great team effort!
Christmas 7’s Hurling: The club will be holding the second annual Lorrha Christmas Hurling 7’s in Moatfield on St Stephen’s Day. 12 hurling clubs will battle it out to try and prize the trophy away from defending champions Portumna. So far Lorrha (x2), Portumna (x2), Killimor, Birr, Drumcullen, Carrig & Riverstown, Borrisokane, Kildangan and Brothers Pearse (London) are confirmed entrants.
Later that evening, the club will hold a Christmas Party in the GAA Centre with music by ‘Cooney and the Boys’ followed by DJ Sean O’Meara from 9pm. Tickets €10. A day and night not to be missed.
AGM: The Annual General Meeting of Lorrha GAA Club will be held at the GAA Centre on Wednesday, 18th December (tonight) at 8.00pm. We urge as many players, members and supporters to attend and inform themselves about how your club is being run.
Mass for Deceased Members: will be celebrated at Redwood Church on Saturday, 21st December at 7.30pm.
Appointment: Congratulations to David Needham who was appointed the GAA’s new Games Development Officer for North Tipperary, succeeding Tadhg O’Connor who retired recently.
Coaching Courses: Anyone interested in undertaking a Foundation level or Level 1 coaching course over the winter months are to contact HDC Chairman David Needham as soon as possible.
Tipperary GAA Clubs Draw: We would ask all the draw promoters and subscribers to bring their accounts up to date ahead.
Sports Hall or Function Room booking: If anyone or any sports team would like to use of our facilities, which include a sports hall, gym or training field with floodlights or function room, contact Sean Mannion on 087-3643031.
Social Dancing: continues in the GAA Clubhouse this Friday night to the music of Footloose. Dancing 9.30pm to 12.30pm. Our Christmas dance on 27th December will be with Checkers while the first dance of 2014 will be to the music of Sam O’Doherty.
