Lorrha GAA News for 21 July

Senior: Lorrha fell to 5-18 to 4-15 defeat to Holycross/Ballycahill in the final round of the County League last Saturday in Moatfield. Having won 2, drawn 1 and lost 2 games, Lorrha missed out on the semi-finals but retained their division 2 status for 2018

The final round game of the County Championship against Knockavilla Kickhams is dependent on Tipperary's progress through the qualifiers.

Junior: The North Tipp Junior 'B' Hurling League Final Replay against Roscrea was played on Tuesday evening with Lorrha winning 1-13 to 1-7. Well done to the players and mentors.

Lorrha's championship campaign begins this Sunday when Silvermines travel to Moatfield at 12 noon but the game is subject to change. Check social media for updates

Minor: Lorrha Rovers resumed the Minor Hurling Championship last Thursday against Kiladangan in Ballinderry but suffered a 4-19 to 1-14 defeat. They have a bye this week and will be away to Toomevara in their next game, likely to be on Thursday 27th July.

Under 16: Lorrha Rovers began their U16 'A' hurling campaign at home to Burgess last Monday week and won 5-19 to 0-8. They had a bye last Monday and return to action on 23rd July away to Toomevara at 7.15pm

Under 14: Lorrha Rovers Gaels suffered a 3-10 to 1-7 defeat away to in Ballina last Wednesday. This evening (Wednesday) they host Newport in Moatfield at 7.15pm.

Under 12: Lorrha will play Kilruane MacDonaghs in Moatfield in the North 'B' Hurling semi-final on Friday 28th July at 7.00pm.

Tipperary: Best of luck to Patrick Maher, Brian Hogan, John Madden and the Tipperary Senior hurlers in the All Ireland quarter final against Clare this Saturday.

Hard luck to the senior footballers on their defeat to Armagh last Saturday.

Fundraiser: The club has launched a 2500-to-1 fundraising draw with a prize fund of €10,000. We have 2,500 tickets valued from 1 cent to 2500 cents (€25) and when you accept to take a ticket, you scratch off a hidden section and the value in this section is what you pay for the ticket, it could be 1 cent, €25, or any value in between. All tickets bought will be entered into a draw in late September for a top prize of €5,000 with eleven ther prizes ranging from €2,000 to €200. Your support would be appreciated.

Cul Camp: Lorrha Kellogg's Cul Camp takes place in Moatfield from next Monday 24th to Friday 28th July from 10am to 2.30pm each day. Camp is open for 6-13 year olds, to register, go to www.kelloggsculcamps.gaa.ie and find the Lorrha camp in the Tipperary listing. The camp costs €60 for one child, €50 for a second and €40 for a third or more children and they will be provided with full camp kit. Best of luck to all taking part and here's to an enjoyable week.
