Senior: The Seniors took on Nenagh Éire Óg in the Co Challenge Cup last Monday, and were defeated 4-17 to 2-14 after being level at half time. Lorrha’s next game is a Section 3D quarter final against Mullinahone in Moatfield and has been deferred to Good Friday, 29th March at 4.30pm.
The first round North Championship game against Templederry has been fixed for Sunday, 7th April in Cloughjordan at 5.30pm
Junior: The Junior ‘A’ hurlers opening league game due to have been played this coming weekend has been deferred to Easter Weekend.
Under 21: The U21 footballers exited the North Championship following a 4-8 to 2-7 defeat to Moneygall/Clonakenny in the semi-final playoff in Moneygall on St Patrick’s Day. Christopher Fogarty and John O’Meara were the goal scorers.
Minor: The minor footballers begin their ‘B’ Championship campaign away to Moneygall/Clonakenny in Moneygall on Wednesday, 27th March.
Easter Camp: Lorrha GAA Club will be hosting a Juvenile Easter Camp for between 3-5 April from 2-5pm each day. Cost of the camp is €20. To register, contact juvenile secretary Louise Mannion.
Tipperary GAA Clubs’ Quiz: Well done to the team of Aidan, Pauline & Niall McIntyre and Maria Brophy who won the Lorrha heat of the All County Table Quiz held last Friday night. The now progress to the County Final in Thurles on Thursday, 28th March with the overall County Champion winning a weekend for 4 people in New York (flights and accommodation included). Thanks to all who supported the quiz.
Membership & Registration: The Club will be hosting a Registration Night in Moatfield on this Friday night, 22nd March from 7.30 to 9pm. Closing date is 31st March as it will count towards our Tipperary ticket allocation later in the year and will also be entered into a draw for 2 Stand Tickets to the All Ireland Hurling Final. Adult Player – €50; Non-Playing Adult – €30; Students & Minors – €20; Juveniles (16 & under) – €15; Family Membership (2 Adults & 2 Juveniles) – €80. Each additional child is €10 each. Membership is payable to Registrar Louise Mannion, Curraghagloss, or can also be paid online at myclubfinances.com.
Gym Membership: (All rates are inclusive of club membership rates above) Adult Players – €150 (€50+€100); Non-Playing member – €150 (€30+€120); Student – €100 (€20+€80); Family (2+2) – €200 (€80+€120); Non club member – €150. The Gathering: The Club will be hold a Gathering in the GAA Centre on Friday, 21st June as part of the Lorrha & Dorrha Heritage Festival. We will be holding a reunion of the 1983 Lorrha Intermediate Football and Under 21 hurlers, 1993 Minor hurlers and 2003 Junior ‘B’ hurlers, all of whom won North titles in those years. More details in the coming weeks but keep the date free.
Tipperary Clubs Draw: We are asking all promoters to bring their monies up to date and forward them to draw coordinator Margaret Gleeson.
Sports Hall or Function Room: If anyone or any sports team would like to use of our facilities, which include a sports hall, gym or training field with floodlights or function room, contact Sean Mannion on 087-3643031.
Circuit Training: for ladies continues in the Clubhouse every Monday and Wednesday evenings from 7-8pm, plus there is a special class for Men only on Wednesday’s from 8pm. For more information contact Noel Hogan 0876176472.
Social Dancing: continues on Friday night to the music of Finbarr Dennehy. Dancing 9.30pm to 12.30am. Admission €8, refreshments served.
