Christmas 7’s: The club will be holding the second annual Lorrha Christmas Hurling 7’s in Moatfield on St Stephen’s Day. 16 clubs will battle it out to try and prize the trophy away from defending champions Portumna. Any clubs interested in taking part can contact Michael O’Carroll (0876200365). Later that evening, the club will hold a Christmas Party in the GAA Centre. A day and night not to be missed.
Sean Ghael Award: Congratulations to Phil McIntyre who received his a Laochra Sean Ghael award from the Tipperary County Board at the annual awards in Thurles last Sunday afternoon.
Last Person Standing: Thanks to all 124 people who registered to take part in the Lorrha Hurlers Premier League Last Person Standing. The first week saw almost half come a cropper with Chelsea and Everton’s results leading to a mass cull. Those who have been knocked out can buy back in for €5 but before the second round which takes place this weekend. To do so, contact your promoter.
Auction: Our annual Auction takes place at the GAA Centre on Sunday, 15th December from 2.00pm. Anyone who had a tree they would like to donate for splitting or any type of fuel or farm produce are to contact any committee
AGM: The Annual General Meeting of Lorrha GAA Club will be held at the GAA Centre on Wednesday, 18th December at 8.00pm. Anyone with outstanding financial issues with the club are to contact treasurer Declan O’Meara as soon as possible before the books are closed prior to the meeting. Nomination and motion papers will be emailed to all members and supporters this week. If you would like it posted it you, contact secretary Shane Brophy.
Mass for Deceased Members: will be celebrated at Redwood Church on Saturday, 21st December at 7.30pm.
Coaching Courses: Anyone interested in undertaking a Foundation level or Level 1 coaching course over the winter months are to contact HDC Chairman David Needham as soon as possible.
Referees Training Course: The County Referees Committee is considering running a Foundation course for new referees in early 2014 subject to their being sufficient numbers interested. Clubs are encouraged to nominate new referees as given the number of games in the county each year, it is important to have a large number of trained and committed referees available. Forms to register new referees interest are available from the club secretary and must be returned by November 30th.
Mind Ur Buddy Programme: Pieta House in conjunction with the GAA have organised two information nights to introduce and explain this programme initiative: 20th November from 7.15-8.15pm at The McAuley Community Centre, Templemore; 21th November from 7.15 -8.15pm at the Moycarkey Community Centre.
These meetings will inform members about the ‘Mind your Buddy’ programmed designed to assist Suicide prevention. The programme is free.
The purpose of the introduction nights is to highlight the importance of ‘Mind your Buddy’ concept, and to identify the importance and need for training of members within your own club. The training course it self will follow on 30th November for approx 3-4 hours.
Tipperary GAA Clubs Draw: We would ask all the draw promoters and subscribers to bring their accounts up to date ahead.
Sports Hall or Function Room booking: If anyone or any sports team would like to use of our facilities, which include a sports hall, gym or training field with floodlights or function room, contact Sean Mannion on 087-3643031.
Social Dancing: continues this Friday night to the music of Twice Shy. Dancing 9.30pm to 12.30am. Refreshments served.
