Lorrha GAA News for 25 February

Senior: Lorrha will play JK Brackens in Templemore in the first round of the County League Division 2B on Sunday 12th March at 12 noon. On Sunday 26th March, Lorrha will be home to Burgess before having subsequent games v Roscrea (away) and home to both Ballina and Holycross/Ballycahill.

Junior: Lorrha will contest group 2 of the North Junior 'B' Hurling League with Moneygall, Shannon Rovers, Roscrea, Burgess and Ballinahinch.

Under 21: Hard luck to the U21 footballers who lost 0-8 to 0-4 to Silvermines in the North 'B' football semi-final in Moatfield on Saturday.

The draw was made for the U21 'B' Hurling Championship last week and Lorrha have been grouped with Borrisokane, Shannon Rovers Gaels and Silvermines with the top two teams progressing to the semi-finals.

Minor: Lorrha Rovers Gaels will face Roscrea at home in the first round of the Minor 'A' Hurling Championship, following the leaving cert exams. The championship will be on a round-robin basis with games against Nenagh, Kilruane, Silvermines, Toomevara and Kiladangan with the top four teams progressing to the semi-finals.

The Minor 'B' Football Championship was redrawn and Lorrha Rovers Gaels are now in with Kiladangan, Silvermines and Moneygall/Clonakenny with the first round on the weekend of 18 March.

Under 16: Lorrha Rovers Gaels begin their North 'A' Football campaign against Nenagh Eire Og in Nenagh on Saturday 25th February at 3pm.

Under 6 & 8: Training will start in the GAA Centre on Wednesday 22nd February at 6.00pm. Runners and helmets must be worn; all are welcome

Membership: for 2017 is now due. €90 – Adult player; €50 – Minor/College student; €30 – Non-playing Adult (+€70 extra for gym membership); €20 – Juvenile (16 and under); €90 – Family (2 adults and 2 children, capped at €100 for three or more children).

Closing date for membership for all adult and juvenile players is the last day of February to be insured in training and games while the closing date for all membership is 31st March. It is important to remember that our total number of adult members by 31st March is the number the County Board will use towards our ticket allocations for Tipperary games so it is in your interest to have membership paid by then. Membership can be paid to club registrar Louise Mannion or can also be done online at www.locallotto.ie. Members can also log onto www.grma.gaa.ie to get their new GAA Rewards card.

Healthy Club Project: David Broderick and Michael O'Carroll attended the Munster GAA Healthy Club Project day in Cork on Saturday and over the coming weeks the club will be putting together a programme from which everyone in the community can benefit from.

Cul Camp Coaches: Tipperary County Board are recruiting coaches for their upcoming Easter and Summer Hurling camps. Applicants must be born on or before 1st January 2001. Both new and existing coaches need to re apply. More information from Secretary Michael Kennedy.
