Lorrha GAA News for 25 September

Party for Liam McCarthy: Rathcabbin Development Association are hosting a Party for LiamMcCarthy in the village this Friday from 6.30pm. The Party is to honour PatrickMaher, Ciaran Hough and Ken Hogan for their All Ireland successes withTipperary this year. Both the Liam MacCarthy and Cross of Cashel trophies willbe there so there will be plenty of opportunities for photographs with Bonner,Ciaran, Ken and a number of other players from both panels.

Johnnie ‘B’ and the Boogie Men, the bandbehind “The Premier Rap” will also be playing while a “Big” special guest willbe making a short journey from Walshpark for the night.

 

Cups to Schools: The Liam MacCarthy Cup and the Cross of Cashel Trophy will be comingto the three National Schools in the parish this Friday afternoon. The tourwill begin in Lorrha N.S at 1pm before moving to Redwood N.S. for 1.45pm andfinishing in Rathcabbin N.S. at 2.30pm so wear your jerseys and bring yourcameras for those photographs. 

 

Senior: Theseniors bowed out of the senior championship last week with a verydisappointing 4-19 to 0-4 defeat at the hands of Nenagh Éire Óg in SempleStadium. It was a bitterly disappointing display and ends what was a poor year.It is not a true reflection of how we can play and it is up to everyone toknuckle down in the New Year to improve in 2011.

 

U21: The U21‘A’ semi-final against Kilruane MacDonagh’s is likely to be played in thecoming weeks so players are asked to keep training.

 

Minor: Theminors are awaiting conformation of the outcome last Tuesdays North Minor ‘B’semi-final replay. Lorrha were leading against Newport when the game endedbefore full time. Lorrha were awarded the game at a subsequent meeting. The final against Portroe was deferred to this Saturday, 25September in Borrisokane @ 3pm. Best of luck to the players and mentors.

 

Lotto:Our jackpot has reached arecord high of €20,000. The jackpot cannot go any higher so it will remain at€20,000 but the following jackpot has now risen to €4,050.

Thanks to everyone whois supporting our lotto, which is the clubs main source of fundraising. Withthe jackpot currently high, the number of players is growing by the week,particularly online on www.locallotto.iewhere it is easy to play every week. Tickets are €2 each or three for €5.  

 

Old Time Dancing: Old Time Dancing continues on Friday night to the music of Nando& Shandy. Dancing 9.30pm to 12.30am.
