Lorrha GAA News for 27 February

Lotto: The numbers drawn this week were: 5 – 24 – 28 – 30. No Winner.
The Lucky Dips were: Mary Hogan, Taxi Tom, Bernie Coughlan, Ray Hourigan and Joe Cleary. The Winning Promoters were: Louis McCormack, Noel Hogan and Tony Coen.
All lotto draws take place in the GAA Clubhouse on Monday night @ 10pm.
Thanks to everyone who is supporting our lotto, which is the clubs main source of fundraising. With the jackpot currently high, the number of players is growing by the week, particularly online on www.locallotto.ie where it is easy to play the lottery every week.

Sponsorship: Thanks to Denis and Lil Maher at the Friars Tavern for their recent sponsorship towards the Lorrha hurlers training fund.

U21 Football: Lorrha were defeated 3-18 to 3-6 by Newport in the first round of the championship on Sunday afternoon. Lorrha now take on Nenagh Éire Óg in the second round this Saturday needing a win to remain in contention. Check fixtures for throw-in time.

Hogan Cup: Lorrha senior hurlers take on Borris-Ileigh in the Hogan Cup quarter final on this Sunday in Moatfield at 12 noon.

Membership: Membership is now available and the rates are unchanged for 2010. €40 – Adult Players; €20 – Non Playing Adults; €15 – Minor/College Students and Juveniles (with match ticket entry); €10 – Juveniles (without match ticket entry). All membership is payable to club registrar Tadhg Nevin, Glenbower, Rathcabbin, Roscrea. New GAA rules mean the closing date for membership is 31 March 2010. A reminder that only fully paid-up members can enter the draw for Tipperary tickets later in the summer.

Indoor Hurling: Training for Under 8’s continues in Lorrha Hall on Friday night at 7pm sharp. Indoor hurling for Under 10’s begins at 8pm.

Scór: Scór na Paistí North Semi Finals on Friday March 5th in Silvermines & Portroe

Hurling Wall: On this Friday February 26th Paudie Butler will conduct a session on the hurling wall in Cloughjordan at 6.45pm.

Tipp Draw: The club won a set of jerseys in the February County Board Draw. With just two draws left, all draw coordinators are asked to collect all outstanding money in the coming weeks.

Helmets: Since the 1st January, players at all grades are required to wear helmets in both training and matches. This compulsory change to the rules affects players at every grade and players are asked to ensure they have the correct helmets to meet new requirements. The GAA Injury Scheme will only provide cover in respect of hurling claims provided the injured claimant is wearing a Helmet which conforms to the NSAI Standard IS:355. ie Mycro, Marc or Azzurri. Cooper Helmets do not conform to this standard.

Old Time Dancing: Old Time Dancing continues on Friday night to the music of Pat & Ritchie. Dancing 9.30pm to 12.30am.
